MAKE PARTNERSHIP REWARDING SM
UNICEF Tap Water Project
Join us to help provide safe drinking water to children around the world.
From March 16 through March 22, (World Water Day), Americans will be encouraged to visit restaurants participating in a nationwide initiative – the Tap Project – and pay $1 for a glass of tap water they would normally enjoy for free. The funds will support UNICEF’s water programs. Lack of clean water is the second largest killer of children under five and $1 can provide 40 children with clean water for a day.
“Clean drinking water is an everyday privilege millions take for granted,” says Marcus Samuelsson, UNICEF Ambassador and chef/proprietor, Aquavit and Riingo, New York, NY. “Yet the lack of it is one of the reasons why millions of children are dying each year. I’m excited for the opportunity to get the restaurant community and our customers involved.” Participating restaurants will receive a project toolkit with Customer Donation Cards, which briefly describe the Tap Project and invite customers to support UNICEF water programs by adding a donation of $1.00 per person or more to their bill.
“It’s a privilege for American Express to join forces with UNICEF. We are in a unique position to both contribute resources and to reach out to Cardmembers and our restaurant Merchant partners to build awareness and participation in this important initiative,” says Curtis Wilson, vp and gm, Restaurant Industries, American Express.
